Spanish philosopher, George Santayana once wrote, "Those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it." Today, we live in a world where the past has been largely forgotten. I once served as a case manager for a San Francisco high school. When the King holiday drew close and the teachers began to discuss the civil rights movement, I heard moans and groans. One angel faced girl told me: "We go through the same s--- every year. I'm tired of hearing about this!"
Take a look at the two images below. What do they tell us about what can happen if our youth forget the sacrifices that opened the doors for us? Look at these images and post at the bottom of the article the first thing that pops into your mind. I am anxious to see your insights. What can we do to keep the memory of the movement alive?
